Newly appointed Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall today announced that the Port Macquarie produce festival, Tastings on Hastings, will receive $20,000 in funding.
Mr Marshall said the funding has been provided through the NSW Government’s 2017 Flagship Event Fund, which boosts regional tourism by supporting marketing activities that drive overnight visitation to regional NSW.
“The Flagship Event Fund is a terrific NSW Government initiative and part of our renewed commitment to boost regional economies through tourism and major events,” Mr Marshall said.
“Events are key to attracting new and returning visitors to our regional towns, bringing with them additional business to restaurants and cafes, local tourism operators and accommodation providers.
“The Flagship Event Fund represents country NSW at its best, with local communities coming together to stage events that showcase the unique character, culture and attributes of their region.”
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said she was delighted that one of the North Coast’s premier festivals will receive funding.
“Tastings on Hastings showcases the region's diverse food and wine culture by bringing together local farmers, food producers, wine growers, brewers, restaurants and cafes, while attracting visitors from across the country,” Mrs Williams said.
“We look forward to welcoming many more visitors to beautiful Port Macquarie as a result of this exciting event, helping to further reinforce our region as a must-see destination in NSW.”
The 2017 Flagship Event Fund is managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
