The Camden Haven community will benefit from $280,880 in funding to support Club North Haven under the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program, Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said today.

Mrs Williams said the funding will help Club North Haven to continue supporting the community and recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and bushfires.

Club North Haven is redeveloping an existing grass bowling green by installing a new bowling complex complete with carpet green and covered roof structure.

This structure will complete an overall versatile area, inclusive of previous renovations which includes an adjacent viewing deck and new function room social space.

This project will provide an all-weather bowling complex that will contribute to additional play, including evening events and increased membership, by keeping members and visitors out of the sun, rain and wind.

Mrs Williams said millions in grants has been awarded to 28 projects across sport and recreation, arts and culture, disaster readiness and essential community infrastructure.

“Many of our local communities were still grappling with the impacts of the bushfires when COVID-19 hit – the combined devastation of a natural disaster and a pandemic is unfathomable,” Mrs Williams said.

“Local organisations are the lifeblood for so many communities, and we want to do everything we can to support them so they can keep their doors open and provide vital services.”

The Infrastructure Grants program in 2020/21 has $10 million available to fund projects to upgrade facilities across arts and culture, community infrastructure, sport and recreation, and disaster readiness.

Since 2015, the NSW Government has funded more than 380 community projects worth $67 million under the Infrastructure Grants Program.

The grants are made possible by the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund which re-invests profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into a statewide funding pool for large-scale community projects.

Applications for the next round of funding open from Monday, 1 February 2021. To find out more information or to apply, visit responsiblegambling.nsw.gov.au
